Federal Acquisition Regulation (FAR)
The FAR is managed by the FAR Council and prescribes uniform policies and procedures for the acquisition of goods and services by all executive agencies. An electronic version of the official FAR is available at www.ecfr.gov under Title 48, Chapter 1.
The FAR is prepared, issued, and maintained jointly by the Secretary of Defense, the Administrator of General Services, and the Administrator, National Aeronautics and Space Administration, under their several statutory authorities.
Defense Federal Acquisition Regulation Supplement (DFARS) and Procedures, Guidance, and Information (PGI)
The DFARS and PGI implements and supplements the FAR and provides the regulatory framework for conducting acquisitions across the Department. An electronic version of the official DFARS is available at www.ecfr.gov under Title 48, Chapter 2.
The Defense Acquisition Regulations System (DARS) develops and maintains acquisition rules and guidance to facilitate the acquisition workforce as they acquire the goods and services DoD requires to ensure America’s Warfighters’ continued worldwide success. The DARS leads and guides the DAR Council, which develops the DFARS.

The Principal Director of Defense Pricing and Contracting issues class deviations when necessary to allow organizations to deviate from the FAR and DFARS. Class deviations may be found here.
