NEW CUMBERLAND, Pa. –
Honoring Hispanic Americans—essential to the blueprint of our nation, is the 2019 theme for National Hispanic Heritage Month.
Defense Logistics Agency Distribution’s Multicultural Committee held an event to celebrate this annual tradition of recognizing and honoring Hispanic Americans and their contributions during a ceremony in the headquarters’ Gainey Auditorium, Sept. 17.
DLA Distribution Susquehanna, Pennsylvania’s Commander, Army Col. March Callis, II, hosted the event. In his remarks, he touched on how the strength of the Hispanic American community lends and builds to the strength of the nation.
“Since our founding, our nation has drawn strength from the diversity of our people. With faith and passion, a sturdy work ethic and profound devotion to family, Hispanics have helped carry forward our legacy as a vibrant beacon of opportunity for all,” said Callis. “Whether their ancestors have been here for generations, or are among the newest members of our American family, they represent many countries and cultures, each adding their own distinct and dynamic perspectives to our country’s story.”
“They are the brave men and women in uniform who commit themselves to defending our most cherished ideals at home and abroad. Their lasting achievements and devotion to our nation exemplify the tenacity and perseverance embedded in our national character. During National Hispanic Heritage Month, let us renew our commitment to ensuring ours remains a society where the talents and potential of all its members can be fully realized,” said Callis.
