HANSCOM AIR FORCE BASE, Mass. – The Air Force Life Cycle Management Center is hosting the second virtual Focus Week of 2021 from April 26-30.
Focus week is an opportunity for personnel to complete mandatory and discretionary leadership and acquisition training and earn continuous learning points. Dozens of courses will be available, ranging from career and functional area-specific training and coaching to personal development classes.
“Currently, all courses are being offered in a distance learning format, so they are available to the entire AFLCMC workforce, regardless of location,” said Jason Sibrel, AFLCMC Focus Week program manager. “Attendance is open to military, civilian, and most contractor personnel, as long as the contract allows for the attendance of training and the course is open to all.”
A few courses on the schedule for acquisition professionals include Digital Transformation, Active Risk Management in the Adaptive Acquisition Framework, and Contract Data Management.
The goal of the Digital Transformation course is to inform students about what it means when programs “go digital.” Instructors will briefly highlight key aspects of the Air Force Digital Campaign by providing deliverables available to programs and center personnel. This course will help students understand the specific steps to implementing digital activities in their programs, as well as present information on “born digital,” “digital scout,” and “digital dinosaur” programs. Digital transformation is worth two continuous learning points.
Active Risk Management in the Adaptive Acquisition Framework will provide enrollees an overview of Active Risk Management, one of the six tenets of the Adaptive Acquisition Framework. This course will explore how the four core values and 12 Principles of the Agile Manifesto can be applied to any acquisition strategy. Instructors designed this course, which provides two continuous learning points, for program managers, engineers, contracting officers, logisticians, and sustainers.
The purpose of Contract Data Management is to provide a basic overview of policies, practices, and procedures related to the delivery of technical and management data from defense contractors. Topics in this course include data management responsibilities, the use of data forms and documents, data item descriptions, data calls and requirements review boards, post-contract award activities, and much more. Contract Data Management is worth two continuous learning points.
Aside from the functional-area-specific courses, AFLCMC Focus Week offers several career and personal development training opportunities. Examples are Marketing Yourself and Your Career and Setting Expectations.
Intended for military members and civilians alike, in Marketing Yourself and Your Career, instructors encourage students to think about using their “brand” to achieve personal and professional success. Utilizing peer-to-peer information sharing, this course uses exercises and discussions to assist enrollees in becoming “the best new product of 2021.”
Setting Expectations will teach new and prospective supervisors how to achieve success by establishing clear expectations with employees. In this course, facilitators will delve into job assignment, performance, professional development, training expectations and more. This class is a great way to get started on your success as a supervisor, or to refresh on the soft skills required to be a successful supervisor.

Platforms include teleconferences, Defense Collaboration Services, and Commercial Virtual Remote using Microsoft Teams.
Some courses are new to the virtual learning environment, so it is important to be mindful about what platform is being used, said Sibrel.
