Navigating the Pentagon
The Pentagon is a five-sided building consisting of five rings labeled A - E (inside to outside). Each ring has seven floors, Basement, Mezzanine, and floors 1-5. Pentagon room numbers are a floor number (B, M, or 1-5), followed by a letter A-E representing the ring, followed by a 2 digit number indicating the Corridor (1-10), and a 2 digit room number (01-99). For example, 3B1024 is on the third floor of the B ring, near corridor 10 and is room number 24.
The outer rings are each longer than the more interior rings, therefore if you are travelling to the opposite side of the building, it is often more efficient to go to the A ring, then travel around the A ring to the appropriate corridor, and then move outward from there to the desired ring. Weather permitting, you can also cut across the Center Courtyard to decrease the walking distance.
Kiosks are also conveniently located throughout the Pentagon featuring location and other related information about the facility.
