AThe Feds Feed Families campaign is in full swing once again, and organizers throughout the National Capital Region (NCR) are working together to make a difference in the lives of families and children in the region. The annual campaign, which runs from June to August, is a tremendous display of the giving nature exhibited by the WHS family.

2013 will mark the fifth annual Feds Feed Families, a program that taps into the compassion of federal employees to provide assistance to food banks around the country. Food collected in the NCR is donated to the Capital Area Food Bank, which serves more than 700 food pantries, soup kitchens, and other service organizations.

WHS functions as a driving force behind Feds Feed Families and its ability to reach an overwhelming level of success every year. Year after year, WHS’ logistics and promotion support has generated participation in the campaign across the Department. In 2012, WHS helped the DoD collect 2.1 million pounds of food out of the total 7.3 million pounds donated across the federal government.

Furthermore, WHS spearheads efforts to raise awareness and promote participation in Feds Feed Families by coordinating an annual “Cover the Map” rally in the Pentagon Center Courtyard. During this event, the Pentagon community gathers to place food on a large map of the NCR to celebrate the food drive’s important mission and encourage staff to “participate and make a difference.” This rally unites DoD military and civilian personnel while spreading awareness of the 1 in every 6 Americans who remain hungry.

By collaborating for a good cause, WHS makes an impact beyond the walls of the workplace and helps our neighbors in the community.
