WHS Role in Remembrance: Preservation of the Pentagon Memorial

The Pentagon September 11th Memorial was dedicated as a National Memorial on September 11, 2008, and is open 24 hours a day, 7 days a week for public visitors. To sustain the integrity of the September 11, 2001 Pentagon Memorial, WHS works tirelessly to keep the grounds clean and well-maintained.

The memorial is dedicated to the terrorist attack survivors and the 184 people who lost their lives on September 11, 2001, when American Airlines Flight 77 crashed into our Nation’s defense headquarters.

WHS steered a yearlong quality assurance and quality control effort during construction of the Pentagon September 11th Memorial, working closely with designers, engineers, and construction teams.

The organization further assisted as an important facilitator between families of the victims and the Memorial’s engineers, ensuring that the spirit of the space was appropriately reflected upon completion.

WHS considers the continued preservation of the Pentagon September 11th Memorial to be of paramount significance in support a Nation that will never forget.
