From the Battlefield to the Office, WHS Stands Beside Those Who Have Served

A picture of a military color guard

Through its daily administrative services to the Department of Defense, WHS supports our Nation's men and women in the U.S. Armed Forces. WHS helps to facilitate the Department's Operation Warfighter (OWF) initiative, a temporary assignment and internship program for recuperating Wounded Warriors. OWF provides these service members with meaningful activity outside of the hospital environment while offering a means for transition back to the military or civilian workforce.

Yet even when a warfighter decides to make a formal transition to civilian employment, WHS stands ready to support them through active recruitment.

WHS is deeply committed to maintaining a diverse workforce, which includes U.S. military veterans. WHS believes that those who have served our country—during wartime or peacetime—possess valuable skills that can enrich the workplace.

As former recipients of WHS services, veterans have perhaps the best understanding of the resources our servicemen and women need to perform their duties effectively. Upon their completion of military service, their skillsets are remarkably transferrable to civilian positions. Former members of the military lead key projects, supervise teams, and contribute every day to the WHS mission and customer service excellence. Their seasoned leadership, teamwork, and communications skills are valued assets in today's work environment.
