Facilitators use a variety of techniques to improve the flow of communication in a meeting, discussion, or debate. The purpose of facilitation is to help parties clarify and achieve their specific group objectives. A facilitator does not become involved in the substantive issues, but rather focuses on the process of communication. Therefore, facilitators remain impartial to the topics and issues under discussion. In most situations, WHS serviced customers could benefit from facilitation when a collaborative group decision-making process is appropriate.
