The Metrorail system is the best method of transportation to the Pentagon. Parking around the Pentagon is limited, and traffic can be very heavy in the DC area.
The Washington DC Metro is the easiest way to access the Pentagon Memorial. Both the Blue and Yellow lines run to the Pentagon. Using those lines, exit at the Pentagon stop and follow the signs to the Memorial Gateway (path shown in red on Map of Key Locations linked below).

There is a pedestrian tunnel under I-395, that can be seen on the diagram below, that leads to the Pentagon from the Hayes Street Lot. After exiting the tunnel, follow signs to the Memorial Gateway. On-street/garage parking may be available in some areas outside of the Pentagon Reservation. Regular fees may apply.
Visitors are permitted to drop-off passengers at the Pentagon Memorial. However, drivers may not wait in the parking lot. Drivers may use North Rotary Road to make drop-offs at the specified drop-off zones.
Tour buses are only permitted to stage and unload at the east end of South Parking, with five parking spots available for buses alongside the sidewalk adjacent to lanes 28-30.
