WHS offers alternative work schedule options, including flexitour and compressed work schedule options. Flexitours are 40-hour work schedules with fixed variable starting and stopping times Monday through Friday. This allows employees to arrive at and depart from work at different set times throughout the week. When working compressed schedules, employees may, by working longer hours, complete the biweekly basic work requirements in less than 10 workdays. This can be accomplished by working four 10 hour days in a two week period with two days off or eight 9-hour days and one 8-hour day with one day off every other week. Approval of work schedules is at the discretion of your supervisor and must be conducive to mission requirements. You will be placed on a standard workweek schedule (8-hour days) for your first two weeks of employment.
In addition to flexible work schedules, WHS employees may be eligible for the Telework Program. This program is a work arrangement in which some of an employee's work is performed at an off-site location, such as a home or in office space near a home. It can reduce commuting cost and time, improving recruitment and retention by offering employees more convenient work arrangements. Telework benefits both the employee and the organization. It enhances continuity of operations, and helps to attract and retain employees as well as reduce environmental impact.
