COMMENTS/QUESTIONS:

If you have questions or concerns regarding the transition out of NSPS, you can send your questions or concerns to rss-hrdnsps@whs.mil. The DoD Fourth Estate NSPS Program Management Office and/or your Agency/Activity will review your comments and respond directly to you.

Information on web-based training is available on the NSPSTO website:

  • NSPS Connect - A single comprehensive web page for accessing NSPS learning materials, resources and tools. NSPS Connect, Your Gateway to NSPS Information, provides one, centralized portal for accessing NSPS products such as online training courses, fact sheets, tips sheets, worksheets, brochures, user guides, automated tools and more.

  • NSPS Transition - An area of the Web Site provides transition-related news, timelines, resources and learning programs. This section will be continuously updated as organizations confirm transition plans, so it is important to visit frequently.

All courses, except web-based training, are arranged through your Agency.  For more information, contact your Admin Officer or Training representative to obtain the training schedule and to find out if specific courses are being offered from your Agency.

GS 101.

  • The Federal government has several personnel management systems for the civilian workforce.  These systems are comprised of several features including job classification, pay, performance management, and staffing.  The most common system is the General Schedule (GS). GS refers to the job classification and pay features; however, for the purpose of this training, we use GS to describe the complete personnel management system.

  • GS 101 uses four lessons to introduce the nuts and bolts of GS:

    • GS Classification Architecture and Salary Structure
    • Changing Positions within the General Schedule
    • Performance Management
    • Career Development
  • Each lesson highlights important information about GS. After the last lesson, there is a self-assessment, a course evaluation questionnaire, and a course completion certificate that you can print.
  • GS 101 takes approximately 30 minutes to complete.
  • To access GS 101, go to GS 101

NSPS 101.

  • This training introduces the nuts and bolts of NSPS.  It provides information about onversion, job classification, performance management, compensation, merit promotion, and workforce shaping.

  • It is highly recommended that all employees complete the web-based NSPS 101 course before taking the classroom training (HR Elements and Performance Management courses).

  • To access NSPS 101, go to http://www.cpms.osd.mil/nsps/nsps101 .   Training can be completed within 60-90 minutes and does not have to be completed at one time.

NSPS HR Elements for Employees, Managers and Supervisors.

It is recommended that participants complete NSPS 101 to learn about the core NSPS elements. This course serves as a recommended prerequisite for the classroom sessions. The web-based training takes approximately 1 1/2 hours to complete and can be accessed at the following web link: http://www.cpms.osd.mil/nsps/nsps101. Due to limited seating those interested employees should work through their Administrative POCs to reserve a space.
