How To Apply

 

Application must be submitted via e-mail or in person. 

TO SUBMIT AN APPLICATION VIA E-MAIL: 

Use the following subject line:  VACANCY ANNOUNCEMENT # SES 07:XX.  Failure to use this standard subject line may cause your application not to be received.  Send your resume, Technical Qualifications Statement, ECQ Statement, and SF-181 (voluntary) as separate Word documents within a single e-mail to rss-sesvacancy@whs.mil.  Font size for Word documents should not be smaller than 12 point.  Current Career SES members, Career Senior Executive Service Reinstatement Eligibles and graduates of OPM-certified Candidate Development Programs (CDPs) are not required to submit an ECQ statement.  However, current and former career SES members must submit an SF-50 (Notification of Personnel Action) showing their status or reinstatement eligibility.  Candidates who have successfully completed an Office of Personnel Management approved CDP must submit a copy of their graduation or completion certificate.  E-mail applications must be received no later than 5:00 p.m. Eastern Standard Time (EST) on the closing date of the announcement to be considered.

TO SUBMIT AN APPLICATION IN PERSON:

Submit an original and three copies of your resume, Technical Qualifications Statement, ECQ Statement, (font size for Word documents should not be smaller than 12 point) and SF-181 (voluntary) to the Executive and Political Personnel Division, Room 5E580 of the Pentagon.  *You must have a badge which allows you unescorted access to the Pentagon.  Current Career SES members, Career Senior Executive Service Reinstatement Eligibles and graduates of OPM-certified Candidate Development Programs (CDPs) are not required to submit an ECQ statement.  However, current and former career SES members must submit an SF-50 (Notification of Personnel Action) showing their status or reinstatement eligibility.  Candidates who have successfully completed an Office of Personnel Management approved CDP must submit a copy of their graduation or completion certificate.  Application must be received no later than 5:00 p.m. Eastern Standard Time (EST) on the closing date of the announcement to be considered.

To receive full consideration, each applicant must submit the following documents.

MANDATORY RESUME (not to exceed 5 pages).  There is not a specific format, however, resume should include name, address, home and work phone numbers, home and work e-mail addresses (if applicable), social security number, education and training, work experiences for the past 10 years (job titles, salary, grade and series of federal positions or rank of military positions) and accomplishments.

MANDATORY TECHNICAL QUALIFICATIONS STATEMENT (not to exceed 10 pages).  A narrative format is preferred, but not required.  Provide specific examples of your experience, education and accomplishments which are applicable to the Technical Factors addressed in the vacancy announcement.

MANDATORY EXECUTIVE CORE QUALIFICATIONS (ECQ) STATEMENT (not to exceed 10 pages).  Please refer to the Office of Personnel Management’s SES website at http://www.opm.gov/ses/index.asp for general information about the Senior Executive Service. 

ETHNICITY AND RACE IDENTIFICATION (SF-181).  Form can be found at http://www.opm.gov/forms/pdf_fill/sf181.pdf.  However, Completion is voluntary.  Information is used for statistical purposes only.
