Ensure You are Counted!

Update your Ethnicity Race Identification (ERI) and Disability Codes in My Biz by September 14, 2012.

 

Federal equal employment oppor­tunity regulations require agen­cies to maintain accurate information on the race, national origin, gender, and disability status of their employees. Accurate data is integral for statistical reporting.  The data is also used to identify and plan appropriate outreach and training activities.  The Equal Employment Opportunity Commission encourages agencies to periodically resurvey the workforce to capture demographic data. The Office of Personnel Management also recently updated the Self-Identification of Disability form to reflect new disability categories.

Updated data is essential to helping Washington Headquarters Services (WHS) foster an inclusive and respectful workplace environment that allows all employees to succeed and support the defense of our nation.   

This article is a call for all employees serviced by the WHS Hu­man Resources Directorate to review and update their ERI and disability codes in My Biz for accuracy and completeness. Providing ERI and disability information is voluntary; the data will be used for statistical purposes only.

To update your Disability Codes:

  • Access My Biz by using your Com­mon Access Card
  • Go to the Defense Civilian Personnel Data System Portal and log in.
  • Follow the prompts to My Biz and proceed to the “Update My Information” tab.
  • Click the “Disability” tab and select the magnifying glass on the right-hand side, to open the Search window.
  • Access the list of disability codes by selecting the “Go” button.
  • Continue to select “Next” on the right side of the screen until you reach the disability or disabilities that best represent you.
  • Click “Quick Select” and the selected disability will auto-populate into the “Update Disability Code” data field.
  • Select “Update” to add your code into your record.

To update your Ethnicity/Race Identification:

  • Click the “Ethnicity and Race” tab
  • Follow the directions on the screen
  • Close your browser upon completion for security purposes.
