Employee Satisfaction and Engagement ProgramThe employee satisfaction and engagement initiative is in concert with the Office of Management and Budget program objectives, as well as the Deputy Secretary of Defense's desire to keep the Department of Defense as a model employer. WHS is committed towards increasing Manager's awareness of, and commitment to, the direct influence of employee engagement and to drive high performance by providing clear performance expectations and fair and accurate feedback, ensuring open lines of internal communication and supporting employee career development goals. Deputy Secretary of Defense memorandum, DoD Employee Wellness, Satisfaction and Engagement Initiative was signed January 4, 2010 to address several focus areas, as informed by an analysis of employee responses to the Department and Office of Personnel Management employee survey questionnaires, as well as employee engagement literature. Employee Engagement is a term associated with effort to determine how to best maximize the satisfaction and performance of employees and thereby positively influence organizational efficiency and effectiveness.
