Who We Are

The Office of General Counsel is comprised of over 20 attorneys with backgrounds as military veterans from the Judge Advocate General Corps, and private practice law firms.

What We Do

The Office of General Counsel provides legal services to the various agencies and directorates within WHS focusing primarily on matters of operational law such as:

  • prosecution of criminal violations on the Pentagon Reservation
  • litigation on behalf of WHS client organizations before administrative agencies
  • defense of the DoD in Federal Court, in association with the U.S. Attorneys' Office and the U.S. Justice Department
  • advice on issues related to ethics

Our efforts are primarily concentrated in these practice areas.

What We Do Not Do

The Office of General Counsel cannot provide legal advice or representation to WHS employees for personal legal matters. It is suggested that the employee contact an outside attorney for assistance in these matters.
